Panic attacks are very frightening. But what causes them and how can they be cured?
It is quite important to try and find out what the reason is behind a panic attack, normally
they are brought on by stress and anxiety. Often the stress and anxiety builds up until the
body in effect says “no more” something must be done, and so it produces various things
to do this, and one of them is a panic attack, and it does have a slowing down effect, and
therefore has achieved what has set out to do.
So in just about every case the client has in fact had a large amount
of stress over the 12 months or so leading up to an attack, now this timescale is very varied, this
is simply because everyone is different and some people can deal with stress better than others.
Generally it is about 12 months, however it can be years, or even just a few weeks, so difficult to
put a correct figure on it that applies to everyone.
There
is however another factor with Panic attacks and that is that they re-occur usually in the same places
for instance, in crowds, eating, driving, travelling, are some of the main ones, but it can be anywhere,
and you normally get the feeling they are going to re-occur which is often as bad as an attack, so it can
therefore become very restricting and just like a phobia you will then try and avoid those places.
The problem then becomes not the stress but the panic attacks, however the first objective is to
reduce stress and anxiety, some of this can be done with practical things that you do in your life to change
your lifestyle, or you may need extra help, and this can be included with hypnotherapy.
We then have to look at the attacks, and bring back your confidence to be able to return to these
places that give your trouble, there may be more than one, you may be restricted a great deal, and even
to the point of not being able to go out at all. Once the stress levels are reduced and fear is taken
away you will be able to start thinking about returning to the these places, and this can all be done fairly quickly. You could even find that within a few days you feel a lot more relaxed and feel
like it is possible, hypnotherapy gets to the root cause, and makes you feel like it is possible, that is the
key because at the moment, you wont feel like that at all.
